Notes |
The museum was housed in an old fish cellar near the quay. Following the founder William Paynter's death in 1976, his family kept the museum open for the remainder of the summer season before closing it for good. The collections were subsequently dispersed. Some items went to the Guildhall Museum at Looe, others were returned to donors, while some artefacts were retained by Paynter's family. (information via email from Jason Semmens) |
